Jesus Before the World Was

God said, "Let us make man in our own image". When God says "Us" he means, Father, Son, Holy Spirit. He made man and gave him authority over the earth. Jesus is the Son of God and was there before man was created. He saw the first man being created out of the dust of the earth.

In the beginning, even before the world was formed, Jesus was there. He existed and He was with God and He was God as He is today. When Jesus prayed to his Father in John 17:5, he prayed to be glorified with the Father like He was before the world was.

Jesus in the Old Testiment

Since we know that Jesus existed before the world was formed, it is not difficult to think he can be found in the Old Testament. Jesus was not here in body, but many references in the Bible point to him and who he would be to us in the future. Jesus' birth was told beforehand in Isaiah 7:16. In Christ is the Seed (offspring) of the woman that will one day crush Satan's head, Genesis 3:15. How would he do this? Keep reading. Jesus appears over and over again in the Book of Psalms, including when King David referred to him as "Shepherd", Psalm 23.

In the Old Testiment the high priest made sacrifices to God for a sinful people. It was a temporary solution for our sin. Man could not follow God's law (commandments) to the letter so there were continual animal sacrifices made to satisfy the Most Holy God. But the permanent answer was coming...

Jesus Came To Us

Jesus willingly left all the glory of Heaven (yes, it is a real place) to be born of the virgin Mary into this world. Long before Jesus' birth, the Old Testament tells of Christ's birth - Isaiah 7:14 and Isaiah 9:6.

The New Testament,Luke 2:1-20, describes that great event. What a wonderful thing He did! Giving up Heaven even for one moment to live in a mortal body here on earth was just the first of MANY sacrifices He made for us. God came to earth in the form of a man, Jesus. He lived here, as our example. Was he tempted? Yes, but He did not sin.

Jesus Died For Us

Jesus came and showed us how to live in this world, but His purpose went far beyond that. Before He ever reached the cross, He was accused, mocked, spit in the face and beaten with fists. The same people that praised Him and celebrated Him a few days later would shout, "Crucify Him!". He had a crown of thorns pushed into his head and then took more beating and whipping on a Roman whipping post until He was no longer recogizable. Isaiah 52:14. All of Hell was unleashed on Jesus that day. Roman soldiers lead Him as He carried his own cross to the place He would be nailed to it through his hands and feet. Six hours He hung on that cross with the weight the sin...OUR sin on His shoulders. God, His Father turned away from Him in that moment of time. Sin cannot exist in God presence. For the first, and last, time in all eternity Jesus was separated from His Father. He took our sin then gave his life up. The work was finished. God's plan of salvation was carried out. John 19:28-30.

Why is all this important now? Why is this a subject we have to give thought to today? God Almighty is holy and righteous. When Adam and Eve sinned, it separated mankind from God. Jesus, who was blameless, took on our sin and became the ultimate sacrifice that was infinately greater than any other sacrifice made by high priests in the Old Testiment. How many of us could stand to watch our son, daughter, mother, father or friend go through such treatment. Our Heavenly Father did. Why? He loves us that much that He would give His only Son so we could be in right standing with Him and in close relationship with Him forever. Why did Jesus do it? He did it so we would never have to know what it means to be separated from God.

Jesus Went To Hell & Back
For Us

Jesus said, “Don’t fear: I am First, I am Last, I’m Alive. I died, but I came to life, and my life is now forever. See these keys in my hand? They open and lock Death’s doors, they open and lock Hell’s gates." - Revelation 1:18.

He, and only He, made it possible for us to have victory over death, Hell and the grave. As Heaven is real, so is Hell and the truth is that we will go to one or the other when we die. We don't just cease to exist, our soul is eternal. Christ gives us victory for eternity!

Jesus, the Christ, Lives Today!

God raised Him up out of the grave and He lives today! And He loves you today! More than that, He loved you before you were born - Jeremiah 1:5. You don't have to be better or do better to be accepted by Him. If you could make yourself good enough for God, Jesus wouldn't have had to die on that cross. Salvation is a precious gift to YOU. You can't earn it and you can't pay for it. Jesus paid the price...paid it in full. All you have to do is accept the Gift, believe with all your heart and live like you mean it.

There is no greater time than today, right now, to start the life you've always wanted. Everyone wants a better life...and they want it now! Isn't that true? It doesn't matter what you are going through, where you are, what you've done or not done. Just talk to Jesus like He is standing right with you. You can't shock Him. The life you've lived is an open book to Him. There is nothing you can hide from God. He knows your deepest thoughts and He still loves you beyond words. The Bible says, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."

If you don't know what to say, just simply say:

"Father God, I am sorry for trying to do things on my own.
I know now, Jesus, that you died for me.
Please forgive me.
Come into my heart.
Take my sin away and make me clean before you.
Help me to live for you all the rest of my days.
Thank you for saving me, Lord.
In Jesus' name, Amen."
